After hitting 100 million users, is Jio losing its charm?
The telecommunications industry is growing steadily, thanks to Jio and its growing user base. As anxiety clouds eclipse Airtel, Vodafone and Idea, a change in the Jio growth model could be a sign of relief in the past seven months.
The Jio branch has always added millions of users to its network, with an unlimited number of gifts to customers over a period of six months. The company has started paying its prices last month, where it managed to migrate most of its free users to paid customers. But gradually as the months pass, and the dust settles on Jio gifts, the number of new users join the network slowly decreases.
The Jio unit has already created several registrations in the telecommunications industry, despite being a new competitor in the world led by giants like Airtel and Vodafone. In December last year, the new Telecom added a huge 20.3 million users – the highest ever by a telecom company in a short period of time.
When Jio began his journey in September, he managed to add 16 million users, followed by $ 19.6 million in October and November of 16.3 million subscribers. The year 2016 was occupied by Jio. To continue success story, Jio launched the Happy New Year offer in January, when 18.5 million users were added.
After setting benchmarks in the previous month, Jio added 6 million subscribers in March 2017, which was the lowest so far. Does that mean that Jio loses his charm and attracts new subscribers? It costs us to accept.
Even at the bottom of Jio, he managed to beat Airtel competitors, Vodafone idea and with a good margin. During the same period, Airtel added 3 million users, Idea Cellular came in second with 2.1 million, and Vodafone has reached the 1.8 million mark.
Moreover, Jio gift were a great attraction for new users and it was easy to convince users with offers like unlimited 4G data, free voice calls and much more. Now the telecommunications company has a Jio Prime membership, which gives the best deals. However, worrying rates of Jio forced other companies to make their game, and competition is fierce in the telecommunications industry.
Users now deal with various offers from all telecom, divide them to join Reliance Jio. The membership of Jio Premium promises to offer the best deals, and its current offer includes 3 additional months of free data, unlimited calls for a nominal fee of Rs. 303 + Rs. 99 to contributions.
In a short period of seven months Jio has already extended its doors to become the fourth largest telecom operator with a market share of 9.29 percent of the March 31 market. Airtel still leads the group with 23.39 percent, while Vodafone and Idea Cellular control of 17.87 percent and 16.70 percent, respectively.
